Tilney Pools Construction Process. How We Bring Your Pool to Life.

At Tilney Pools, we believe building a pool should be a clear and enjoyable experience. Our process is built on communication, precision, and hands-on craftsmanship from start to finish. You’ll always know what’s happening and what comes next.

Here’s an overview of each stage of construction and what happens at every step.

Layout

Once your design is finalized, we mark the exact footprint of your new pool so you can see how it fits within your backyard. This step gives you a clear visual of placement and scale before any digging begins. We move forward only after you’re fully comfortable with how everything sits on your property.

Fencing and Excavation

To prepare for construction, a section of your fencing will be taken down temporarily so our crew can access your yard. You’ll have plenty of notice to secure pets, furniture, or lawn equipment. Then excavation begins. The shape and depth of your pool are carefully dug according to your approved design. It’s the first exciting moment where you start to see your vision take shape.

Structure

Next, we reinforce the layout with a steel rebar framework that gives your pool lasting strength. Once the structure is set, our shotcrete crew steps in to form the concrete shell by hand. This is where your pool truly comes to life, built solid from the ground up for decades of reliable use.

Plumbing and Equipment

Our plumbing team installs and pressure-tests every line to ensure your system runs smoothly and safely. Equipment is positioned for performance and accessibility, keeping maintenance simple for years to come.

Electrical

With plumbing complete, we move on to electrical work. This includes installing pool lighting, automation systems, and any other electrical features you’ve selected. Each component is wired, tested, and confirmed for safety before continuing.

Hardscape and Decking

Once the pool structure is set, we begin adding the features that define the surrounding space. Your chosen coping, decking, and hardscape materials are installed with attention to detail, giving your pool area a clean and finished look.

Tile

This is where personality starts to shine. We install your selected waterline tile to add color and style. Typically, six inches of tile are placed, with three above and three below the waterline, giving your pool a crisp and polished finish.

Interior Finish

After the tile is set, we apply the interior finish that gives your pool its final texture and appearance. Whether you choose Pebble Tec or plaster, this step adds the smooth surface and color that define your pool’s look. Most finishes take one to two days, depending on the material.

Clean-Up and Start-Up

The final phase is all about preparation and detail. We clear the site, remove debris, level the yard, and reinstall any fencing that was moved. Once complete, we fill your pool, start up the system, and balance the water so it’s ready for that first swim.

The Tilney Promise

When we hand over your finished pool, we know it’s built right because we’ve been there for every stage of the process. From design to completion, we take pride in the work, the details, and the experience you have along the way.
